6.3.1 Introduction

The RevenueSummary combined with the RevenueDetails provides a simplified message structure to communicate the same set of data as can be communicated using the RevenueReport set out in Clause 6.2. The data in each of the RevenueSummary and RevenueDetails is structured as a single Record, and the data is split so that the summary data is in the RevenueSummary and the detailed data is in RevenueDetails. A RevenueDetails is mandatory, but it does not have to be accompanied by a RevenueSummary and is thus optional.

The RevenueSummary enables the recipient to receive a summary of one or more (1-n) associated RevenueDetails. The data in each RevenueDetails shall point to the relevant summary data in the RevenueSummary and contain detailed data about revenues generated for sound recordings and/or music videos, or other audio-visual resources, and may also contain data about other types of revenue reported to a music licensing company that cannot be allocated to specific resources.
